About the Author

Author: St. Teresa of Avila
St. Teresa of Jesus was born in 1515. She entered the Carmelite Monastery of the Incarnation in Avila, Spain. She founded 17 other Carmelite Monasteries in her lifetime. She wrote several spiritual classics on prayer and contemplation.

Translator: Kieran Kavanaugh, OCD
Fr. Kieran Kavanaugh, OCD is the English translator of the writings of both St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. He is a member of the Institute of Carmelite Studies (ICS) and was the vice postulator for the canonization of St. Edith Stein.
