Sweet Girl

Max Jennings is in a bad mood. It’s not anything you did; it’s just that secrets from her past make it her natural state of being. But she’s not going to talk about it or share her feelings, so don’t bother asking.

Max’s bad mood means that very few people actually truly understand her or know that her secret dream is to be a pastry chef. When a rare opportunity to work for world-famous Avis Phillips presents itself, Max jumps at the chance. Avis and her staff aren’t stingy with the tough love, so Max spends every spare minute practicing her craft. As she bakes brownies and custards, cookies and galettes, she builds an unlikely friendship with a man she once loathed and finds herself falling into something she’s spent the last six years avoiding. Will she let her painful past stand in the way, or will she muster the strength to forgive herself and realize her full potential?

Great Book! This is a great book; this is the second book in The Girls series by Rachel Hollis. Max’s dream is to become a pastry chef, when an opportunity comes up she jumps at the chance. Bennett Taylor has always rubbed Max the wrong way, but when he is persistent in offering to help her with her pastries she realizes that they can become friends if not something more. If you are looking for a great book, that has romance, humor and yummy pastries then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series.  A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Sweet Girl is already one of my favorite books of the year. I love Hollis’s books because she provides readers with a strong twenty-something female protagonist that I can relate to, route for and am invested in their career and romantic dreams coming true. Sweet Girl is a fun read, but it also has a lot of depth. She shows female friendship at it’s best and the love story in this book is so sweet and real. Hollis’s laugh-out-loud scenes and nuggets of wisdom throughout the book left me feeling very fulfilled! I highly recommend Sweet Girl!
