About the Author
Beth Bowland, a native Ohioan, has always enjoyed reading and creating stories of her own. As a child she devoured every book she could get her hands on and spent numerous hours at the library each week. She loves writing stories for tweens and young teens and is now the author of three novels. Her characters are often described as quirky and fun, but always relatable. When she's not writing, she loves watching HGTV. She has one daughter and resides in Texas with her husband, Phillip.

This was a fun book--an updated Nancy Drew type of mystery. Main character Katrina is a spunky heroine with a lot to deal with. There's her opposite, sloppy twin Kiara, and then there's the boy she's got a crush on. Plus, her divorced mom is dating, and she's not happy. To make matters worse, the boy she's crushing on just happens to be her mother's boyfriend's son. To complicate things even more, strange neighbors have moved into the gated community, leading Katrina and her friends into a mystery. I loved Katrina's funny group of friends and the diversity of her neighbors. This was a fun middle grade read with plenty of unexpected twists!

This was a great book that my 12 year old son and myself enjoyed reading. The characters are entertaining and you just can't wait to see what happens next. Katrina and Kiara are so smart and fun and their friends are great characters. The strange neighbors and the mystery they solve was just so fun to read about. I would recommend this book to all middle/high school students.
