Overview

Life provides every human being a variety of twists and turns during its course, but some people find themselves on a roller coaster of a ride that's indeed book-worthy. Darren Phillips is a prime example. His adventure has included drinking himself out of a fortune, having tea in Sir Richard Branson's living room, streaking at an international cricket match, fleeing to America, stints in hospitals and jail, standing atop a bridge and ready to jump, beating alcoholism, marrying Angela, watching her get locked up, hiring Michael Jackson's lawyer, and buying a home down the street from Oprah. To date, Darren has counseled hundreds of individuals, travels the United States to speak to thousands in recovery, and he's still in his forties. From Manchester to Montecito -- and everywhere in between - Reborn In the USA is certain to entertain and inspire you.

About the Author

Darren Phillips grew up in Bury, England and attended University of Brighton. After helping launch a successful enterprise in the UK, he would later succumb to alcoholism and at age twenty-nine, board a flight to Los Angeles for a two-week vacation, never to return. Having overcome this often-fatal illness -- which led to arrests, hospitals and a lockdown psychiatric unit, he sobered up and married Angela. Years later this would lead to her own arrest, psychiatric evaluation and a six-year prison sentence after being convicted of embezzlement from her billionaire boss. Following her release from the maximum-security facility at Chowchilla, Darren returned to university and gained masters’ degrees in psychology and addiction counseling and was recently hired as full-time faculty at one of the leading community colleges in America, Santa Barbara City College. Darren currently resides in Montecito, California, with his dog Ebby. This is his first book.
