Audience: This book is written for graduate level students and/or psychiatrists interested in psychiatric genetics and who also have a basic level of knowledge in the field of genetics. Most of the authors and contributors are affiliated with teaching and/or research institutions.
Features: The field of psychiatric genetics is covered from nearly every aspect. The book reviews methods involved with the research tools that are available as well as problems and ethical dilemmas that may arise. The book gives very detailed information on analytical methods and study designs. The author assumes that readers have a solid foundation in the field of genetics and begins the discussion of research from an advanced level.
Assessment: This book is very useful for students or psychiatrists interested in genetics and how it applies to psychiatric illness. It would be more useful to one interested in research in psychiatric genetics than it would be to the general practitioner. It is one of few in the field to give a comprehensive review of the field.
