In addition to being a science fiction reader and author, Dan Pekarek has a technical background. He has been a regular reader of Aviation Week & Space Technology since age thirteen and has a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering. He has been subscribing to Astronomy Magazine since 1980 and has been a member of The Planetary Society since 1987. Needless to say, Dan is an enthusiastic supporter of space exploration and wishes he could get onboard a starship to explore the Universe and search for the intelligent life that he believes is out there. With his vivid imagination, Dan started daydreaming about interstellar travel at age thirteen, and some of his teenage fantasies even found their way into the Alcent Trilogy. Creating the Alcent Trilogy required many years of mental effort, and in Dan's mind, the story took on a sense of reality. So much so, that Dan feels like he has actually been on an interstellar voyage of exploration; even though, the story is fiction.
