Interviews

I am a pediatric occupational therapist and I have worked with children with special needs over thirteen years. My younger sister, Mary Allison inspired me to go into this field. She was born with a rare genetic disorder and as a result has seizures and cognitive delays. Growing up with a younger sister with special needs was a blessing but also difficult at times, which is why I decided to write this children’s book series.

My dream for this children’s book is to have families read it together and for siblings of children with special needs to know they are loved and hold a unique place within their family. Through Lucy’s voice, I hope children are able to relate and gain a better understanding of how important they are.
