4 MEDIUM

• Lily Sugar 'N Cream medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn (2½ oz/120 yds/57g per skein):

2 skeins #02019 ahoy ombré
1 skein #01201 seabreeze

• Size I/9/5.5mm hook or hook needed to obtain gauge

• Cotton dish towel

• Coordinating sewing thread

• Sewing needle

Gauge

With 2 strands held tog as 1, 3 sts = 1 inch.

With single strand, 4 sts = 1 inch.

Hot Pad

Note:Hot Pad is made with 2 strands of yarn held tog as 1.

Rnd 1: With ahoy ombré, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 1, 12 sc in ring, join with sl st in first sc. (12 sc made)

Rnds 2 & 3: (Ch 3, dc) in first st, 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of ch-3. (24, 48)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, 2 dc in next st, 2 tr in next st, 2 dtr(see Stitch Guide) in next st, 2 tr in next st, 2 dc in next st, sc in next st; *sc in next st, 2 dc in next st, 2 tr in next st, 2 dtr in next st, 2 tr in next st, 2 dc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * across. Fasten off.

Row 3: Join seabreeze with sc in first st, sc in each st across. Fasten off.

Sew Edging to 1 short end of towel.

Rnd 1: With mod ombré, make ch to desired length in multiples of 6 plus 1 at end; 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch; working in rem lps on opposite side of starting ch, sc in each ch across, join with sc in last sc. Turn.

Row 2: Sc in 2nd st, *sk next 2 sts, 7 dc in next st, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st; rep from * across to first st of 3-sc group at end, leaving rem sts unworked. Fasten off.

Sew Edging to 1 short end of towel.

Single crochet decrease (sc dec): (Insert hook, yo, draw lp through) in each of the sts indicated, yo, draw through all lps on hook.

Half double crochet decrease (hdc dec): (Yo, insert hook, yo, draw lp through) in each of the sts indicated, yo, draw through all lps on hook.

Reverse single crochet (reverse sc): Ch 1, sk first st, working from left to right, insert hook in next st from front to back, draw up lp on hook, yo and draw through both lps on hook.

Chain (ch): Yo, pull through lp on hook.

Single crochet (sc): Insert hook in st, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through both lps on hook.

Front post stitch (fp): Back post stitch (bp): When working post st, insert hook from right to left around post of st on previous row.
