It’s been said that ‘He’s won so many Grammys (19 so far) that they might as well call them Tonys.’ Tony Bennett has been reinventing himself while bringing the American songbook of classy classics to younger audiences. Tony gives a lot of credit to his son Danny Bennett, who became his business manager. Danny has helped Tony to connect with and generate much younger fans through recent collaborations with a number of younger performers. Some of these projects featured popular multidimensional artists like Lady Gaga, and the late Amy Winehouse, both of whom he considers great jazz artists.
Diana Krall, the Canadian jazz pianist and singer has sold more than 6 million albums in the US and over 15 million worldwide.
On December 11, 2009, Billboard magazine recognized her as one of the greatest Jazz artist of the 2000-09 decade, establishing her as one of the best-selling artists of her time. To date, she has won three Grammy Awards and eight Juno Awards. She has also earned nine gold, three platinum, and seven multi-platinum albums. The Library of Congress recently presented Tony Bennett with the prestigious Gershwin Prize for American Song in a concert at D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. The songs of Ira and George Gershwin are performed by Tony Bennett and Diana Krall in the new album, “Love Is Here to Stay.” The two toured together in 2000 and recorded duets for two of Bennett's albums ("Duets" and "Playin' With My Friends"), but this marks their first full album project together. "Love Is Here to Stay" is out just in time for the 120th anniversary of George Gershwin's birthday, which takes place on September 26. Both multi-Grammy® winning and platinum-selling artists, Bennett is the only artist at the ages of 85 and 88, respectively, to have an album debut at number one on the Billboard top 200, and Krall is the only jazz artist to have eight albums debut at number one on Billboard's Jazz Albums chart.
