About the Author

Professor James Sims attended Azusa Pacific University where he was a Biology major and a football athlete. In 1985, he graduated with a BA degree in Biology and earned his first high school job as a teacher and varsity football coach. For fifteen-years Professor Sims taught high school Biology, Human Anatomy/Physiology, Chemistry, Physics, Health, and Nutrition. He also coached football, baseball, and wrestling. As a hobby, Professor Sims used a variety of dieting and weightlifting techniques to become a high-level body builder. His career in bodybuilding instilled discipline and a new found respect for the human body. In 200 he graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills where he was one of the first graduates in the Master of Arts program in Physical Education and administration. In 2002, Professor Sims accepted a full-time tenure track position to teach Health, Physical Education, and coach football at Los Angeles Valley College. In 2009 he earned the academic rank of “Professor.” Today, Professor Sims is involved with motivating and sharing knowledge to athletes, administrators, staff, students, and the community. Each day his goal is to encourage others to become fit for life. “When people feel good about themselves, they are motivated in school, aware on the job, and attentive toward their families.” Today, Professor Sims stimulates the mind with updated research materials in the field of Health, Kinesiology, and Life Sciences. He continues to speak at various seminars about health and the various topics related to activities in sports.
