Overview

The French school master Maturinus Corderius (Mathurin Cordier, c. 1480 - 1564) wrote a series of easy dialogues to help students learn to speak Latin. The simple sentences, the little dramatic interchanges, and the representation of daily concerns provide an interesting and easy way to acquire essential Latin comprehension skills. This is Book II of Corderius' most famous work, the Colloqquia. It was so successful that it was used for the next few centuries as a standard introductory Latin textbook both in Europe and in the American colonies. This edition is amply annotated in Latin by Professor Arcadius Avellanus.
