CHAPTER 1

SHIRLEY WINARTO

Is a floral designer and owner of a flower shop in Bandung, Indonesia. It started as a hobby few years ago, but then she began to get request from friends and family to make flower arrangements at her home as soon as she graduated from University of Windsor, Canada. She quickly turned it into a business because she had no space at home to cater all the needs. Along the way she took Ikebana Ikenobo, Japan and New York Flower School, New York. Also participate floral workshops around the world to broaden her horizon. She is very passionate with flowers and wants everybody to be able to enjoy it in a simple way and get creative with the container around the house and make it into something beautiful.

BLACK AND RED

Love this stunning bright red of ilex against dark brown and black vase. It gives a dash of color to the room and makes it look undeniably chic in an instant.

RECYCLE CONTAINER

So you're stuck with gorgeous flowers that needs a container? At first you would go for a vase that would fit with the beauty of your flowers. But why bother running around the city to find the nicest vase when you can even use the very first thing that falls on your sight to put your flowers in. It can be as pretty as those expensive vases or more plus, It will give more character and uniqueness to your flowers.

GARDEN FLOWERS

Flowers fresh from your garden can cause some surprise when brought in the house. Even if they didn't get altered or fashionly arranged, they would look, so nice that you would only notice their natural beauty.

HYDRANGEAS

The vivid color and beautiful forms of hydrangea requires no special containers. Just get any neutral color vase to make the flowers outstanding and not competitive with the flowers. The attention that needs to be given to hydrangea is to make sure they have plenty of clean water everyday. If you have only a couple of them, cut them where the bottom of the flower fall close to the edge of the vase to convey a sense of fullness.

QUOTES ON VASE

For the drama queen in your life! Write it on a piece of paper and slip it to a glass vase. To hold the paper and water for the flowers, use a smaller container inside the vase. Give several papers with different words, so she can change it when she needs another drama.

LUSCIOUS FLOWERS

Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers. They are so luscious and can make any arrangement full instantly with just a few stems. To make it unique and extravagant, pair it with a ball shaped flower, like this Allium Gladiator. They are easy to make and brighten up any room instantly.

So, you have friends conning over for dinner after work and you only have couple hours for preparation? Clock is ticking. Okay, the food is main priority, but spare 15 minutes for this simple and easy table setting to coplete your party and get a chance to wow your guest.

Looking at it closely, some of the glasses are upside down with candles on top and single flower inside and across the table. Use whatever flowers at your disposal to make your table look exceptional.

RED, PINK AND BLUE

Being one of my favourite flowers, hydrangea look good with anything. The pink represent a girl, and the blue represent a boy, and red represent love, it's a good arrangement for any loved one!

PURPLE

The vibrant color of hyacinthus give a good vibe to a room. Cut them short and place them in a round vase. Simple yet so amazing!

THINK OUTSIDE THE VASE

Give a new look to your old stuff around the house or find it on a yard sale for unique container and put fresh flowers in it. Put it in an unexpected spot at your place or any corner for an extraordinary impact.

HOT AIR BALLOON

A Great idea to mix balloon & flowers, for a grown up, it's playful without losing its elegancy. Cut the flowers short to fill up the bottom of the balloon, use any nets you like and attach it with a pretty ribbon and secure it to the bottom of the floral foam using a stick.

THREESOME

Instead of just putting your single stem flower into a glass vase, roll up a used magazine page; put a flower or two inside. Don't forget to put a water tube on each flower. See how it really transforms the vase into a new look. Put it on your bedside table or on a bigger surface - three together side by side.

CUTE & EASY

This is cute and easy too! Get two or three stems of lush flowers, cut them so the flowers are sitting on the edge of the vase. It doesn't need a lot of arranging, just let them sit naturally.

A CUP OF FLOWERS

Pick one large single flower and put it in your favourite teacup. It's so easy - yet so chic. Put it on your worktable, since it's so small it won't clutter up your space. If you're ever in need of inspiration, or your eyes need a break from work, this arrangement will revive your mood. Never fails on me.

BOUQUET

Wrapped one stem of cymbidium orchid in layers of pretty papers. Tied it with a ribbon and bring it as a gift for dinner party or your loved one.

RUSTIC

This looks more complicated than it actually is.

Find a sturdy cardboard box, measure the length so it's a few inches shorter than the table, and the tubes that we gonna couple inches shorter than use to put the tulip. Secure the tubes with elastic rubber band on each side of the card board. Make sure the bottom of the tubes are even so they support each other. Put the tulips inside the tubes and glued some most to decorate it.

TEAPOT & SAUCER

This takes a good structure, a lot of glue, and time. But sure It's worth it!

QUE CEST JOLI

For a whimsical feeling, find a unique leaves like this silver dust leaves and gather them together in an unique container.

FLOWER BIRTHDAY CAKE

This cake shaped arrangement looks as delicious as ... a cake! These flowers would be tied up in a box with ribbon. When opened, this would serve as a wonderful surprise of roses cymbidium, orchids, and hydrangea's petals. It makes a great centerpiece and will steal the show at any birthday party.

Start with a cake-shape floral foam, cover the sides with hydrangea's petals and work to the top of the cake with roses & cymbidium orchids. Just like finishing with icing. Have fun with it!

SPLENDID

Choose different colors but still on the same color scheme together to create this arrangement. Put roses together in a group to make it interesting and add a touch of silver to it. Even the cat can't take her eyes off it!

TUTTI FRUITY

A zesty centerpiece for any casual party - when food needs to be served, you'll never want to put these aside! Perfect for formal dinner parties with formal table setting and its a great conversational piece.

Start with a round shape floral foam for the watermelon and orange, pineapple shape floral foam for the pineapple. For the green part of the watermelon, line ruscus leaf and pin. But with the orange, use gerbera's petal.

COOL BREEZE

This arrangement gives the energy of a breeze. The combination of the velvet texture of white leaves and the beauty of white rose really complements each other. Pair it with a quirky vase and add unexpected plants and crysanthemum flowers for maximum impact.

MOSSES

Small and soft mosses typically 0.4-4 inches tall and commonly grown close together in clumps or mats in damp location. Its easy to maintain. Place them in a shallow container and any flowers you have as your centrepiece.

CREATE A VASE

Cover an old box with black paper and draw you favourite vase shape on it or write a message! Pair it with soft colors to complement the vase.

BEYOND YOUR EGGSPECTATION

Next time you make an omlette, save the eggshells. Clean then put them back in the egg case. Collect small flowers, pick small flowers from the garden inside the eggshells.

MINIONS

These are too cute. They might be cute and little, but they packed with so much characters in every single one of them. With love and care they will last forever and watch them grow too!

FLOWER GIFT FOR FASHIONISTA

This flower sculpture looks complicated, but it's not at all. You just need a square floral foam soaked in water to keep the blooms fresh for days. The size of the floral foam depends on how big you want the purse to be. Cut the flowers short, align them until it covers everything. The fun thing about this is you can use any flower, create any pattern, and even add buttons! It's unexpected and fun to make!

CANT GET ENOUGH SHOES!

Aren't they just adorable? This requires quite a bit of sculpting to make the floral foam to the shape of shoes, the trick is to make the heels a wide so its easier to pin on flowers. Find flowers that are not too big and have a flat surface to maintain the shape of the shoes.

SINGLE & READY TO MINGLE

One stem of cymbidium orchids looks so elegant in a vase. Use any vase you have around the house, and fill it with clean water, it's great for a bedside table. Wake up to the smells and sights!

TROPICAL

Sweet looking tropical flowers are a great alternative to give to the special person in your life. The flowers can last up to 2 weeks and the striped stem looks unique in a glass vase.
