Jake McGinnis has the life he has dreamed of since childhood: a professional football career with adoring fans, financial security, and the unwavering support of his family. From the outside looking in, he has everything. But nothing could be further from the truth. Because there isn't a day that goes by that Jake doesn't think about his first love... and what his world would look like if she was still by his side. When he hears that she is relocating to start a new job less than a mile from him, the pain of their breakup feels fresher than ever. For eight years, he has wondered why their relationship ended and now she's settling in his city. A city that isn't big enough for the two of them.

For Morgan Kelley, moving to Philadelphia means living closer to her family and practicing veterinary medicine with two of her closest friends. It's also her chance to start over and move on from her failed marriage. There's only one con: the close proximity to Jake McGinnis. Once upon a time being near him was all she wanted, but now he is practically a stranger... and it's all her fault. Faced with awful memories and the possibility of bumping into him at her favorite coffee shop, Morgan is haunted by the real reason she once broke both of their hearts. Deep down, she knows she won't be able to embrace this new chapter of her life without finally telling Jake the whole truth.

But how will he react when she shares her secret? Their love story once felt inevitable, unshakable. Is this where it ends for good, or is it the beginning of a second chance?

What a beautiful story! Jake and Morgan have always had a connect ...
What a beautiful story! Jake and Morgan have always had a connection from the day they met as children. As they grew, Morgan fell in love with Jake, knowing he was "it" for her. Jake took a while to figure things out, but soon, he, too, knew that they were soulmates. So when Morgan ended things, it hurt Jake a lot. The pain is even sharper now that Morgan has moved back to their hometown for good, and Jake realises that he never really got over her. Morgan has a secret, but is unsure whether revealing it will sever the new bond she and Jake have formed. This story is raw, and filled with a sort of sweet sorrow. Jake & Morgan suffered so much apart from each other, but there's no doubt that Morgan made the choices she did out of anything less than pure love for Jake. I loved that the author did flashbacks to their past, so you felt the connection, and understood how important each was to the other. This book is a standalone, but I look forward to reading about the characters I met in this book. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. The author did a wonderful job, making us fall in love with these characters and their long, arduous road to happiness.

Back to the Startby Elle Keating intrigued me when I read the syno ...
Back to the Startby Elle Keating intrigued me when I read the synopsis. I always enjoy sports romance and this one seemed to have a bit of a mystery and the love that was lost - and I am a sucker for the second chance romances. When we meet Jake and Morgan their lives have been flipped completely opposite of where they left off when Morgan unexpectedly broke up with Jake. Jake is now flying high as a NFL star, but he has always wondered what would have been with his first love. When life throws Morgan back into his life, Jake cannot help but fall back into where he was before Morgan broke his heart. Morgan is a character who I found I struggled to get to know. Even to the reader she seemed guarded and hidden - I knew she was carrying a secret and I could kind of guess what it was, but I didn't really feel like I got to know her. I liked the story line overall, it was enjoyable, the characters were genuine and honest and I thought they really did fit together. Normally, I love the flashback scenes - however, I felt this time, it was used a little too much for my liking. I didn't like jumping all over the place and felt it would have flowed better with not as many flashbacks .... but I do get that it was an integral part of the story as well, so we understood where the characters were coming from. Overall, Back to the Start is a good back that I would recommend to anyone wanting something different. Elle Keating wrote a story that is different from others out there. I would recommend that you add Back to the Start to your To-Be-Read Shelf.
