Overview

The initial missions of the Lord that happened in the Indian subcontinent and their impact on Alexander and his wife, Priscilla's life, and that of their families are shared throughout this book. Alexander shares in this book the stories of the legendary Irish Presbyterian Churches. The work they did while making the very tough journeys from Ireland to India was exemplary and worth discussing through the eyes of those who follow it today. The ancestral history passed down and the faith that thrives in their family today is part of the most brilliant history of the missionaries of the Irish Presbyterian Church. The tireless work that the missionaries have done for the continent will never be overlooked. Alexander and his wife's family are sure of that throughout this book. While not being a typical history piece about the topic, through this book, you will get to know the story of the true followers of the proud and present Irish Presbyterian Church.

About the Author

I was born in the city of Surat, right in the area where the British entered India. This area is where the Muglisarah Church was built by the British Missionaries in 1840 and where the Christian Press and the Viswasi Wadi (the Believers' Garden) were built for the new converts. I grew up in Bombay (Mumbai), the biggest cosmopolitan city in India, where I had my high school education.

After completing high school, I took a voyage to Africa when I was a little over sixteen years old. Two years before my journey, my dad took the same trip, reached Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia), and lived in Ndola city. Once settled, he called me to join him, where I started a correspondence course with an accounting college in England. This accounting education helped me later in developing textile industries in Botswana. While in Zambia, joining the army was compulsory, so I am a veteran of the British Army and fought in the Rhodesia and Nyasaland regiments in the Congo War in 1957.

I married Priscilla in 1966, and we moved to Botswana. I was the first Indian expatriate and Indian Christian to enter Botswana and a pioneer in opening private industries in Francistown, Botswana. I became a steering committee member for the Anglican Diocese of Botswana, the treasurer of the Anglican Church's northern chapter, and a standing committee member. We lived in Botswana for 30 years, where I developed over 12 industries.

We have three children and seven grandchildren and currently live in the USA with my wife.
Priscilla inspired me to write about the missionaries because we owe them much for showing us the way of Christ, life, and the truth. My wife loves reading histories of Christian ancestors and asked me to write about the missionaries' work in their lives. As you can see, my history clearly displays the foundation and direction of Christ in my life, for which we are greatly indebted to the Irish Presbyterian Missionaries who shared Christ with my ancestors.
