Overview

On his third studio album American Dream, rap superstar 21 Savage delivers a set of the kind of stone-faced trap he's known for glossed over with another layer of big-budget production to keep him in the charts. The formula worked, and American Dream is the rapper's fourth consecutive release to reach the number one slot of the Billboard charts, this time debuting at the top. In addition to the stark street raps that populate much of the album (the infectiously gloomy "Pop Ur Shit" featuring a squeaky verse from Young Thug and bulletproof production from Metro Boomin', the eerie "Redrum," the Lil Durk-assisted "Dangerous"), 21 Savage includes forays into devotional R&B with "Prove It" featuring vocals from Summer Walker, haunted pop on the Doja Cat collaboration "N.H.I.E." He ends with the emotional closer "Dark Days," urging his young fans to strive for their dreams through days of struggle; he's joined by Mariah the Scientist on the song's motivational chorus. ~ TiVo Staff
