Overview

Melanie's imagination, combined with reality, is a recipe for disaster. After Midnight takes a twist on classic creatures like: trolls, goblins, ghouls, hobgoblins, gremlins, and original monsters. They plan to infest and dominate the world. Their first conquest is Melanie's once typical hometown. Collectively, they are notoriously referred to as "Nocturnals". The Nocturnals want to overrun reality that they feel is due them. The town is converted into a rustic putrefaction of their perverse satisfaction.
Something was radically wrong with Melanie since her childhood. She is an anti-hero with a raging temper like a ticking time bomb ready to explode.
This strong-willed oddity of nature was plagued with a "nameless condition". Melanie's memory loss worsens by the day. The duration of recollecting the past degenerated. The pills administered to her aren't working. Along with this condition, Melanie has nightmares like clockwork, a pounding headache, and voices in her head pleading, "Help us".
In the midst of her personal turmoil, a fellow student and teacher whom Melanie loathes are murdered. Melanie is a suspect of this murder. She even suspects herself since she couldn't remember the night before. Completely frustrated with her ailment, Melanie leaves the city and returns back to her small hometown with her best friend, Dwayne. She believes that her estranged mother and troubled sister hold all the answers regarding her condition.
Melanie doesn't remember the town but Dwayne does. He informs her of how it used to appear and is shaken by the changes. The town had now become a creepy upside down rustic community. It is now dark, dismal and frightening. Endeavoring through the town, Dwayne goes missing. Melanie must find her best friend and her sister amidst this bewildering unknown place.
As time progresses, Melanie regains more memories. She also discovers what happened to her eerie hometown. The greedy devilish trolls, scavenging ghouls, seedy gremlins, mischievous goblins, afflicted hobgoblins and other original nightmare creatures stand in the way of her finding Dwayne and her sister.
The barrier of reality is disappearing. Revelations are made which allow her to discover, to comprehend, and to find closure to her purposeful link to the shattered barrier.
This novel is a bizarre horror and a very dark fantasy with fast-paced action and some dark humor. It is also a nod to the survival horror genre.
