Overview

Hong Kong, in the early 20th century, was considered the hub of business. However, that changed as Japanese forces took over the country. The Japanese soldiers showed no mercy to the Chinese and violence, looting and unjust killings prevailed. Seeing the rest of the country suffer at the hands of Japanese soldiers, Sek Lung, the second son of the Sek family, took it upon himself to provide for his family and ensure their well-being.
A Chinese Entrepreneur is a recollection of the events of a Chinese man's business ventures; it details his beliefs in his traditions and superstitions and how those influence his decisions and ways of life. Combine that with the importance of family values and you have a novel worth your while.

About the Author

Irene TAI is the youngest of nine children. She was born in Hong Kong on June 1950 and led a life full of intrigue, travelling with her father to several countries in Asia., learning the different languages and customs. She graduated and assumed the position of a nurse at Queen Mary Hospital, after which she travelled to London to start her training in Operating Theatres, and on Burns, Plastic, and Oral surgery. As she became successful in her career, she moved to Sydney in 1979 with her husband and became the Supervisor of Operating Theatres.
She wrote “The Chinese Entrepreneur” when she turned 65 to remind her nephews and nieces to know more about their grandfather. Her mother encouraged Irene to write this book and gave her the permission to use the family history to create the inspiration for this book. This book has been instrumental in enlightening the youth about their Chinese customs and traditions.
Irene wrote her first book “Getting to Know Australia, tips for Asian Migrants” in 2008 because she fell in love with Australia and its friendly people, and wished to encourage other Chinese migrants to consider moving to Australia. She is proud to call Australia her home.
