About the Author

Hannah Eliot is a children’s book editor who lives in Vermont. Her favorite activities include editing (of course), writing, drawing, and spending time with her family!

Alyssa Nassner is an illustrator and hand letterer from Baltimore, based out of Philadelphia. She earned her BFA in illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art. By day she is the art director for Vox Media Editorial Networks, and in her spare time she dabbles in hand lettering and food illustration. Her passion for design has led her to develop projects and products for a wide array of clients, and she is recognized for her use of bright colors, patterns, and hand rendered typography. Alyssa is also quite fond of dogs, donuts, her family, and traveling. Her biggest inspirations include vintage botanical prints, mid-century illustration, and good bottles of Beaujolais. Baby-Toddler—With a Walkman, scrunchies, leg warmers, and more, the babies jumping around this book are certainly 1980s tuned-in, but who is this board book for? Parents who 30–40 years later want to show their toddlers how much personality they had, conforming to every trend? Grandparents who need to look hip? Nassner's digital illustrations are full of life, and Eliot's rhymes—"Now my phone is off the hook, got a tape for my TV. I'm ready to chill out, 'cause it's the '80s, baby!"—cover all the highlights, but it feels more like a very random dive down memory lane than anything that will tempt a toddler. VERDICT An additional purchase, this will have approximately one reading per curious adult before it gets dusty on the shelves.—Kimberly Olson Fakih
