Since January 2020, we feature one Discover selection per month as part of our Books of the Month program. The Discover Pick of the Month highlights one debut novel per month, bringing fresh, new voices in fiction to readers. Previous Discover Monthly Picks can be found here.

Selection Process and Eligibility

  • Only debut novels and short story collections will be considered.
  • Authors cannot submit their own work to the program; self-published writers and titles published via print-on-demand or available only as NOOK Books® or any other e-book format are also ineligible for submission. Publishers must have U.S. Distribution.
  • Submissions must be made at least five to six months prior to book publication date.
  • Submissions must be original publications, penned by one author.
  • Deceased authors and those previously featured in the Discover program are ineligible.

Publishers with submissions that meet all of the above criteria are welcome to send one copy of a bound manuscript or one galley to:
