Our Favorite Romantic Comedies: A Guest Post from Sex Says Authors Max Monroe

It’s safe to say Shakespeare knew Romantic Comedies were hip, and we don’t mind taking our cues from him.
Write what you know and love—that’s what they say.
And guess what? We know humorous romance.
Romantic Comedies are both our bread and butter and the buttered bread we like to eat. This genre lives and breathes in a way that mirrors our lives and leaves the rest open to any and all possibilities. Characters and their stories can be anything we—and the reader—want them to be. We’ve just wrapped up our first successful series, Billionaire Bad Boys, and have moved on to our next standalone, Sex Says, but one thread in their fabric remains the same—humor.
We love to write them, but more than that, we love to read them. After much deliberation…errr…arguments—hair pulling, cursing, and slapstick comedy maneuvers that rival Charlie Chaplin and The Three Stooges—we managed to agree on nine of our favorite Romantic Comedy reads. If we’d written this into a book, we can guarantee one of us would’ve ended up with an embarrassing yet non-life-threatening type of injury that segued into a trip to the ER. Then, we’d insert a deliciously handsome physician to attend to our every need and Viola! We’d be headed straight for Romantic Comedy Lane with a side of Paging Dr. McDreamy!  
We guarantee every book on this list is absolutely un-put-downable in the best, will-leave-you-snorting-in-laughter kind of way.

Seduction and Snacks, by Tara Sivec
Seduction and Snacks left us begging for more of Sivec’s cleverly sarcastic and laugh out loud writing style. Or maybe it left us begging for an Arby’s Roast Beef and Cheddar…Trust us. Read it. But do so knowing you may never consume Arby’s again.

Wallbanger, by Alice Clayton
Thump. Thump. Thump. That’s either the sound of Simon (the oh so delectable hero of this novel) or our hearts, but both options are chockfull of banging into things. Walls. Ribcages. You name it. Wallbanger is an absolute gem of witty humor and real-life antics that we like to read over and over again.

Royally Screwed, by Emma Chase
We’re pretty sure Emma Chase is part man. Wait…that didn’t sound right. She’s an absolutely stunning woman, but she sure knows how to write like a man. If you’ve never had the pleasure of reading one of her male point of views, do it now! And do it with Nicholas, one of the most charmingly witty royals we’ve ever encountered.
Disclaimer: We’ve never actually encountered any royals, but just go with it.

Beautiful Player, by Christina Lauren
While we adore any and all Christina Lauren books, Will and Hanna won our hearts and laughs in Beautiful Player. Hanna’s lack of filter and sheer smarts charmed us from page one. Plus, who doesn’t love watching a good player-type-man crumble?

Play, by Kylie Scott
If Stage Dive were a real band, we’d be groupies. We’d follow (read: stalk) them all over the world just to catch a glimpse of Mal Erikson, the deliciously sexy and undeniably hilarious male lead in Play. He is truly unlike any character we’ve ever read, and we’ve been known to dream about him at night. No, we will not discuss these dreams in a public setting.

Mister O, by Lauren Blakely
Hilarious, sexy, and downright delicious, Mister O is ALL the things we look for in a favorite romantic comedy read. Lauren Blakely might just be the queen of all things romance. But she wasn’t born to it—she earned it.

Scoring Wilder, by R.S. Grey
Scoring Wilder is a fun, sassy, and adorably quirky read. It’s light, fresh, and hands down one of our favorites. R. S. Grey brings all the laughs and swoons, and is so good at transporting you inside her world, you hardly even realize you’re reading.

Forever and a Day, by Jill Shalvis
Jill Shalvis’s Lucky Harbor series is heartwarming, sexy, and cleverly playful. We adore every book, but we can’t deny that Dr. Josh Scott won all of our swoons in Forever and a Day. It’s safe to say we’d willingly end up in his ER, no matter the physical cost.

44 Chapters about 4 Men, by BB Easton
This book is unlike anything we’ve ever read. BB Easton takes us on a journey—memoir style—through her teenage years and adulthood. And there’s no doubt, she is one wild little rebel whom we adore. This book is captivating, hilarious, and had us laughing like crazy. By the end, you’ll want to be BB’s best friend. We do. In fact, we’re planning our campaign now.
