Chapter One
"I'm tired of sitting and looking at old magazines ... this is boring! What are we doing at the doctor's office anyway? Nobody's sick!" exclaims Yaden, the oldest son.
"I have a big surprise for you guys!" Mommy said. "A surprise, is it money?" asks Yaden, as he holds out his hand. "No," said Mommy, "not money." "What about a toy then?" asks Yaden. "Toy?" echoes little brother Yoel, with his hand out, too. "No, not a toy either! You will find out very soon, just wait!" Mommy said.
"Miss Hampton," calls the nurse. Mommy smiles, "come on boys, time for my appointment."
The gang follows the nurse into a room with a strange looking machine and a long bed. The nurse tells Mommy to lie down and the doctor will be in soon. "This is not a surprise ... Mommy thinks that I was born yesterday!" mumbles Yaden. "Born yesterday!" echoes Yoel.
"Hello Hampton family," Dr. Don Paul cheerfully greets as he walks in the room. "What's up Doc?" Mommy and her sons greet back.
The doctor places an object from the machine on mommy's belly and a loud "Bump! ... Bump! ... Bump!" noise emerges. Yaden hears the sound and shouts, "Mommy! Your heart fell into your tummy!" Dr. Paul laughs, "no way, it's the baby's heart beat!" "That's the big surprise! I'm having a baby!" Mommy exclaims. "Yay!" shout the excited big brothers.
On the way home, Yaden has lots of questions to ask, "Where do babies come from?" "Love seeds that grow inside of bellies," answers Mommy. "Is there a baby in my tummy?" Yaden asks, while lifting his shirt to check. "No silly," said Mommy. "How about Yoel, think he has one in his tummy?" asks Yaden. "Only mommies can have babies in their tummies, not little boys," she explains.
"If you're having a baby ... how come your belly isn't fat?" questions Yaden. "The baby is small and growing a little every day," Mommy answers.
"I wanna hold the baby," cries Yaden. "Of course you can, in seven months the baby will be here," Mommy said. "Seven months! You gotta be kidding me! That's forever! I DON'T WANT TO WAIT!" he shouts in dismay. "DON'T WANNA WAIT!" echoes Yoel.
"Stop shouting, you both have to wait!" said Mommy. "I'm only 2 months pregnant and it takes 9 for a baby to be born."
3 Months Later ...
Mommy is now 5 months pregnant. The bros love touching Mommy's belly and feeling it move. They make the baby laugh and kick by telling corny jokes.
"This is fun!" giggles Yaden. "Fun!" giggles Yoel. "Can the baby come out and play now pleeeease?" Yaden asks. "In 4 months," Mommy replies. "Awe man!" w Yaden. "That's still a long time."
