In this third story about young Precious Ramotswe, the future detective is invited to visit her Aunt Bee at a safari camp. Narrator Adjoa Andoh has lovely vocal quality and an interesting accent that is perfect for the narratives about a girl who lives in Botswana. There are many interesting facts and words, as well as exciting adventures: Precious encounters a cranky hippo, a trained lion, and even saves a man’s life. Andoh’s character voices are less believable than the narrative, not because of the Botswana accent but because her voice becomes high and forced. However, her hippo imitation is delightful. Listeners will miss the readers’ guide and recipe included in the print version. M.M.G. © AudioFile 2014, Portland, Maine
