About the Author

Bennita W. Vaughans, MSN, RN, currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at Auburn University at Montgomery. She is employed as a Nursing Case Manager at a local hospital. Ms. Vaughans has been a nurse for 30 plus years and a nurse/allied health educator for over 20 years. She received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing and her master's degree in nursing from Troy University. Ms. Vaughans has experience in the area of quality and safety. She previously served as a Patient Safety Manager and Performance Improvement coordinator. Additionally, she previously served as a level chairperson and assistant dean at Tuskegee University. She has taught various courses at the baccalaureate, associate, and technical levels of nursing. She has also served as an instructor and coordinator in an allied health program. She has coauthored multiple nursing textbooks and has written several publications.

Jim Keogh, DNP, RN-BC, is an assistant professor at New York University and is on the faculty of St. Peter's University in jersey City, New Jersey. He is board-certified in psychiatric-mental health nursing and is the author of more than 87 books, including 20 nursing titles published by McGraw-Hill.


Jim Keogh is on the faculty of Columbia University teaching courses in its technology certification program. He has spent 15 years developing computer systems for major Wall Street firms such as Salomen, Inc. and Bear Stearns and has written several best-selling books for Prentice Hall and IDG.
