In 1913, famous big game hunter Thomas Martindale (1845-1916) published an entertaining account of his grizzly bears hunting adventures in the Yukon in his book titled "Hunting in the Upper Yukon."

About the author:
Thomas Martindale was born in 1845 in England and died September 13, 1916. He immigrated to Pennsylvania as a child where he became probably the best known individual grocer in Philadelphia and one of the best known in the United States. He was a well known author of outdoor hunting books and annually took extended hunting trips into the norther wilds of Canada and Maine.
