Leave an 8-inch length of yarn at the beginning and end of each color section to be worked into fringe.
Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Afghan
Row 1 (RS): With azure, ch 187, dc in 4th ch from hook (beg 3 sk chs count as a dc), dc in each rem ch across, turn. (185 dc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each of first 2 sts, *tr in next st, sc in next st, rep from * across to last st, sc in 3rd ch of beg 3 sk chs, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 4: Rep row 2.
Row 5: Ch 3(see Pattern Notes), dc in each st across, turn. Fasten off azure.
Row 6: With WS facing, join(see Pattern Notes) off-white in first st, ch 3, dc in each st across, turn.
Rows 7–105: [Rep rows 2–6 consecutively] 19 times, then rep rows 2–5, working in following color sequence: 4 rows off-white, *5 rows taupe, 5 rows off-white, 5 rows azure, 5 rows off-white, rep from * across, ending with row 5 of pattern and azure. Fasten off.
Fringe
For each knot of Fringe, cut 3 strands of yarn, each 15 inches long. Holding all 3 strands tog, fold in half, insert hook in end of row, draw folded end through, draw ends through fold, including 8-inch strand at beg or end of each color section where appropriate.
Tighten knot. Trim ends even. Matching colors, place a knot in each end of every dc and sc row on each short end of Afghan.
Finishing
Wash and lay flat to block.

Finishing
With RS facing, arrange Oval Motifs on Blanket Background following Assembly Diagram, with pointed ends at top. Starting 1 inch below top edge, place a row of 9 Motifs evenly sp across. *Then place a row of 8 Motifs evenly sp below last row of 9 Motifs, staggered between previous row of Motifs.** Place a row of 9 Motifs below last row of 8 Motifs, staggered between previous row Motifs. Rep from * 4 times, then rep from * to ** once. Make sure to end approximately 1 inch above bottom edge.
Pin all Motifs in place. With tapestry needle and sewing lengths, working through rnd 6 of Motifs, sew Motifs to Blanket Background, leaving last rnd of each Motif free.
Finishing
Wash and lay flat to block.
