Description: This fascinating book covers a wide range of cardiovascular issues and treatments in a unique presentation of primarily pictures and diagrams. This third edition replaces the 2011 edition.
Purpose: The overall purpose is to provide a visual guide to cardiovascular care by including hundreds of diagrams, drawings, charts, and photos. The book would augment a regular course textbook for those whose learning style is primarily visual. The book meets its objective with many colorful illustrations on every page.
Audience: The audience is students, new nurses, and health team members new to cardiovascular care. The visual depictions are right at this beginning level of expertise. Limited information is provided on the chapter authors and the editor.
Features: This book covers a wide range of cardiovascular issues in a unique presentation with hundreds of illustrations. The visuals are colorful, of appropriate size, and have selected written material. This is a perfect book for a visual learner. The presentation is at a beginning professional level perfect for students or those new to the cardiac area. The one shortcoming is in the last chapter on treatments in which a portion of the BLS and ACLS treatments are outdated; a bit disheartening when the cardiac content was updated in 2017 and the book is published in 2018.
Assessment: This book is very visually appealing and would be an excellent secondary source for a healthcare students or a health team member new to cardiovascular care.
