Overview

Revival is for the church whilst evangelism is for the world. The church is not always revived hence not able to make impact to her communities. Better said, the church is sick and dormant. The fear of God does not exist any longer whilst in some places the congregation does things they have no business doing. She is in a state of spiritual inertia unable to act in her commission to make disciples for Christ whilst may people are dying in the sins in droves.Revival begins when somebody in the church discovers a need and is willing to be a solution Just like Mary did when she discovered there was not enough wine for everybody at wedding of Cana. She perceived the shortfall and voulunteered to do something about it. She did not complain, murmur or criticize anybody. For her to talk to Jesus about the situation is a picture of prayer, the next step towards revival. Prayer is the most essential preparation for change. One person should start praying and the door will be opened for others to join. Mary trusted only Jesus as the problem solver. She did not bother about inconveniencing Jesus. She involved the servants in the process of bring about change. If a person is praying towards revival, he or she should share the vision at the right time with the right people who have servant character. Servants are only interested in serving othere and are ready to do the master's biding anytime. They are never inconvenienced. Other people may kill the vision or obstruct the revival process. Jesus will definately do something about our incestant pettions. Mary told the servants "whatever He tells you to do, do it." That is obedience. God will only use obedient servants who are willing to pay the price for revival to breakthrough in the church. Jesus instructed the servants to fill the vessels with water to the brim. Water represent the Holy Spirit by whose infilling and anointing dormant people are turned loose to become agents of revival. After filling the vessels, Jesus said "draw out" this speaks of sharing the grace of God upon the agent of revival with the church hence bringing an awakening and impartation of the anointing to all. Revival brings re-awakening, resurrection of dead ministries, healing of the sick, empowerment for evangelism, restoration of orderliness, spiritual authority, leadership and the sanity of holiness in the congregation. The fear of God comes and the children of God refrain from conforming to the world and become transformers of the world. That is when the church becomes efficacious in the their communities. This is reival which is represented as the new wine.
Revival should not be a nine day wonder but a sustainable act in the church always. The new wine should be kept in new wineskins. Theis refers to the new attitude such as repentant hearts, passion for prayers, renewed mind, contrite and broken heart, +Holy Spirit filled life, zeal for evangelism, submission to authority and true expression of agape Love
